Day 01

- Rostov City Tour

“From ancient times, the area around the mouth of the Don River has held cultural and commercial importance. Ancient indigenous inhabitants included the Scythian, Sarmat, and Savromat tribes. In 1749, a custom house was established on the Temernik River, a tributary of the Don, by edict of Empress Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great. Today Rostov-on-Don is a Southern capital of Russia, a port city and the administrative & commercial center of the Rostov Region and the Southern Federal District of Russia. During the tour you will get a chance to cross the border between Europe and Asia, to see the world-famous architectural masterpiece – the Gorky Drama Theatre and to feel the local spirit within Rostov’s historical places and beautiful highlights”.

- Lunch at Rostov-Papa restaurant

- Rostov Quay Tour

“The tour goes through the Rostov Quay pedestrian boulevard – one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Rostov. Here you will learn the history of the city of Rostov-on-Don foundation as Temernitsky custom, you will see a number of sculptural compositions and monuments dedicated to different famous Rostovites such as M. Sholokhov, M. Gorkiy,F. Ushakov, S. Razin; you will see Voroshilovskiy bridge as one of the Rostov symbols, “singing” fountains and many more”.

- Boat Cruise. Dinner

- Overnight at the hotel of your choice.

 

Day 02

- Breakfast at the hotel

- Transfer to Novocherkassk

“The last Cossack capital Novocherkassk was founded in 1805 by Ataman Matvey Platov. Novocherkassk offers to its visitors a number of historical highlights such as the Ataman Palace, the Triumphal Arch, the officers’ assembly building, nobility mansions, and, of course, the Ascension Cathedral built in New Byzantine style in the second half of the 19th century. It is one of the biggest cathedrals in Russia. Novocherkassk Cossack History Museum opened in 1899 is the oldest in the Don Region. Its reserves contain 154000 items, including the regalia of the Don Cossacks, its banners and diplomas”.

Day 03

- Breakfast at the hotel & check-out

- Departure to Taganrog

- Taganrog historical tour

“Taganrog is the second largest city of Rostov Region. It is situated on the shore of the Sea of Azov, 70 km from Rostov-on-Don. It is the cradle of the Russian Navy and one of the most important ports in the XIX century. The excursion route goes through the town center, which is now a historical and architectural reserve area, with the whole blocks of old merchant mansions and Chekhov Drama Theater with its hall (exact copy of the one of Milano’s La Scala and the Alferaki Palace, built upon the project of A. Stackenschneider)”.

- Lunch

- Taganrog – Anton Chekhov’s hometown

“Taganrog is the native place of the great writer Anton Chekhov. There are more than 20 monuments in the town, connected with the writer’s name”.

- Departure to Azov. Check-in to the hotel

- Dinner

Day 04

- Breakfast at the hotel & check-out

- Tour of Azov

“Azov is situated in the south-western part of Rostov Region, 36 km from Rostov-on-Don. There is a XVIII century fortress located in the old part of the town with the ramparts, gate and moat well preserved to the present time. Another highlight is Azov’s historical-archaeological and paleontological museum know by the fully extant skeletons of 7-8 million years old deinotherium and two old steppe mammoths of 600-700 thousand years. It also has the skeleton of elasmotherium, an extinct genus of giant rhinoceros. There is a XVIII century fortress located in the old part of the town with the ramparts, gate and moat well preserved to the present time. There are also XVII century ramparts being memory of the Cossack siege and Peter the Great‘s Azov campaigns”.

- Lunch at Rampart restaurant (stylized under the epoch of Peter the Great)

- Ferryboat to the Strelka Island

- Welcome cocktail at the Island

- Walking quest-adventure “Eurasian nomads’ treasure hunt”

- Winner’s award ceremony followed by BBQ dinner

- Overnight.

 

Day 05

- Breakfast at the hotel

- Day at leisure (Fishing & beach facilities are available upon request)

- Departure back to Rostov-on-Don.
